Winter Fest

Today we went to Grafton Lakes State Park Winter fest. We had a blast! Grafton is in a mountain plateau between the Taconic and Hudson Valleys, 2,357 forested acres with 4 large ponds. We were able to watch ice fishing, play on the frozen pond, pet sled dogs, and we even took a horse drawn wagon through the woods. A parks photographer took photos of the kids with the sled dogs and one of our whole family. He asked for permission to use the photo on there web site. Another park the "Albany Pine Bush" had a booth were the kids made bird feeder. When Abigail and Rebekah had finished the lady running the booth asked them to take a photo with her for their web site. I will let you know if the photos show up online. At an exhibit of birds of prey, we got an up close look at a red tail hawk, horned owl, screech owl, and a few baby hawks.

Later in the evening, Scooter took Reagan, Trey, Ethan, and Evelyn down to the park to sled. While there they were able to ice skate. There is a group in town that loves to ice skate and enjoys teaching others. They show up at the park every Saturday with tons of skates to lend. They will have someone teaching how to skate next Saturday so we might all learn. Pray I don't break my neck!
